(Continued from Physical Conditions, Part I)
This article was based on a response to a deeply touching email I received from a person who remains brain damaged due to an accident. The question was, "When I die, what should I expect considering that my brain is severely damaged? Can I be born normal again, or am I condemned to this condition in the future?"
Death and reincarnation offer us the opportunity to rest at the end of this life so that we can start anew feeling refreshed. It is a privilege we all have. With privileges come responsibilities. We are responsible for keeping and taking care of our physical body in this life no matter what its condition. Once we're here, there are no refunds or exchanges for our current physical body. We must not knowingly or willfully destroy it, as in suicide; instead, we must let spiritual laws run their course. As I said earlier, the consequences of suicide are severe.
The good news for anyone with a serious physical condition, including brain damage, or for anyone facing a difficult situation in life is that our experiences do not occur in isolation, and they are not random. Instead, they represent constant preparation for future challenges and responsibilities.
You may not realize it now, but the difficult or painful situations you may have in this life will benefit you tremendously in future incarnations and on the other side. You will be grateful then to have experienced what many others have not.
The fact that a person survives a serious accident, even with severe brain damage, indicates that he is serving a purpose; he is probably being prepared for great and rewarding cosmic responsibilities that will be revealed to him in the future.
For example, to be an effective healer, counselor, teacher, spiritual advisor, or aide either on earth or on the other side, you need training, experience, or some background in the problems you will help with.
The difficult conditions and circumstances we face in life may provide the necessary training and experience needed for our future cosmic responsibilities, and they can only be acquired through our life experiences on earth.
I do not know what it is like to live with severe brain damage, but I know that we cannot be presented with any situation in life that we cannot deal with. I urge everyone living with difficulties, physical or not, to do the best you can with what you have. In the end, you will be glad you did. You have much to look forward to following this life. I believe that you are on a path to a much better destination in terms of your cosmic mission.
Whether you reach that destination is up to you and your willingness to go through this life without intentionally interrupting it, despite the difficulties and challenges you face. Life is a journey that we must complete. I have no doubt that you are capable of completing this journey successfully.
This thought-provoking book may comfort you, intrigue you, or surprise you regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs. At the very least, it will help to explain many of the extraordinary events and mysteries we all encounter in our lives.
In Voices from Beyond: The God Force, the Other Side, and You, the author takes you on a pilgrimage to the edge of what you know and what you believe, and gently guides you to unimagined places. Return to Physical Conditions, Part I
